OffRoadGears

Off Road Gears is a U.S. business that provides products and ideas to people that love the outdoors (with or without their vehicle). Our experience in the automotive parts market started in 1984 and still continues. We started and continue to offer automotive parts for almost any vehicle from windshield wipers to ball-joints to sheet metal. The aftermarket branch of our company has grown from the days of 60 series tires with Cragar rims, Holley double pumper and headers to lift kits, gearing, lights, 4x4 off-road parts and more. Our experience in the Survival equipment started in 2004 and had its true beginnings from past family generation life experiences. Past family experiences included such things as living in Hungary and Germany during the Second World War, purifying water, making soap from scratch, candles, herbal medicinal treatments, and living off the land. Our enjoyment of the outdoors and instinctive desire to learn to be self reliant should the power go out, gas turn off, or a shortage of some kind arise due to an impending natural disaster such as year 2012 theories, we believe this is the first website you will see where both the automotive enthusiast and survival minded person can find products to enjoy their vehicles as well as the outdoors and also learn techniques on survival. We are not condoning the exploitation of this worlds resources but do accept and understand there is a large audience out there that wants to enjoy the comforts of technology, protect this planet and yet be educated enough to know what to do should a disaster strike. In ending when a potential disaster heads to your town, naturally everyone jumps in their car and heads to safety. We will hopefully provide you with the products for a vehicle you can count on when the time comes. And when you run out of gas we should have products and ideas to make it on foot. Off Road Gears was born out of the pure enjoyment of the outdoors. We have had an internet presence since 2004 but our experience in the automobile aftermarket / OEM business started in 1984. Owning an auto salvage, auto paint and body shop, repair shop and a full line auto parts store we are not new to auto enthusiasts. Back then we specialized in early Camaro, Firebird and Corvettes, advertised large full page ads in Peterson’s Hot Rod publications and traveled the auto circuit doing shows. All the while I (the owner) drove my 1975 CJ7 as my every day vehicle and enjoyed the outdoors. Hot rods were in my blood but so was the 4WD world…one had to give. This was my 3rd Jeep and well when I purchased my 4th Jeep a new 1995 Wrangler Rio Grand I realized I knew my direction. In 2004 we opened our e-commerce business. My wife and I traveled this country from the East coast to the West in our 1995. We would travel one month at a time and the Mrs. had that Wrangler packed so tight the soft-top was bulging at the side windows. We went to Jeep sponsored events, meet wonderful people involved in the off-road world and took that Jeep to remote places that no car could travel. Our vacations were a combination of Off-Road / Camping trips. It was a natural fit. In 2006 I suggested to my Mrs. that it may be time to replace her Honda Prelude. We shopped for another Honda (Honda 2000 convertible) but it died on our test drive three times. I took that as a bad omen, so off we went to Lexus. Their sales person was too busy to show us their convertible so off to BMW. The Mrs. was hungry (never shop for a car when your wife is hungry) and I asked if we could stop at one more dealership before we went to eat (I know I pushed it a little). I saw Hummer commercials and thought….we love off-roading and the Jeep has 165,000 miles on it. So we looked at an H2 (she said NO WAY!) and walking away from the H2 (sadly) I saw the H3. I pointed, she drove, and we ordered one. It was the perfect size for her. On Valentines Day she called me and asked what my favorite color was, I said green….she said to bad because she just bought a white car for me. She gave me an address…..and well….we are a two Hummer family. H2 and H3, so now our off road trips consist of taking one truck on one trip and the other on the next. In 2004 www.HummerGearSales.com was born and we have had many calls for Jeep, FJ Cruiser, Xterra, and pick-up truck parts. We sell accessories for all makes and model vehicles but never advertised it. Well now you have www.OffRoadGears.com to supply parts for all other brand SUV’s and trucks but also mix other outdoor products to complement lifestyle of many four wheelers have. Still camping and off-roading, I looked at our lifestyles. My wife is a Master Gardener, Herbalist, and hand makes a lot of things….like soap from scratch. She is a cook of all cooks and I dislike eating out because her food is sooooooo good. 95% of her cooking is from scratch! I mean bread, pasta, cooking oils, candy, cookies. NO BOXED MIXES IN OUR HOUSE! I realized that our interests are in the outdoors, clean food, old fashion techniques in living, herbal plants to cook and use medicinally, off road trips, so why not a website that sells, teaches shares ideas and techniques in off-roading, and back to basics living. We own a Sporting goods business (camping, fishing, gun shop) and saw that there is no one truly mixing the two interests on the internet….so here we are. We all know that the world is changing fast and some feel that we should start saving extra food in our pantry, storing water, learning to provide more for ourselves and rely less on the power companies and government. So this is what this website is all about….using your vehicle for fun, and as a tool and learning survival techniques. I could say go green but everyone has a different idea of that and we won’t sell you Carbon Credits, but we will provide you with the tools, and ideas to survive in a crises and use less mass produced material and try alternative energy sources. Our idea is GET OUT, look up at the sky instead of at your shoes. We will have products that will invite you to camp, learn basic survival skills, read the weather without a radio or television and we will offer you products for your off-road vehicle to take you to your camp site, enjoy the outdoors, and off course……look good (got to look good when your four wheeling!) Hopefully you will find something of interest on our website and pass it on. Remember, our website is divided between Vehicles and Survival so visits both sections. Thanks for reading our story! Stay safe and have fun! Teach a child to respect what was given to us and teach a child to survive; you never know who that child will save……maybe you or your loved one. To all of you, from all of us at OffRoadGears.com - Thank you and Happy shopping! Balogh, István President
